I am interested in seeing how Sony's Playstation 3 sells compared to the PS2, Playstation 2. I was reading Slashdot and according to "The Yankee Group (a Boston Technology firm) recently announced that it predicts Sony's PS3 to lead the market with a 44% share through 2011." I really do not see that happening. The Nintendo Wii is the most interactive next-gen system coming out. The problem with Nintendo is the game selection. Nintendo's games are more for the family. There are some old-school gamers out there that enjoy playing Mario and Zelda, but most gamers today like to play online FPS (First-Person Shooters), or action games. That is where Sony comes in. Sony has the free online play and the online shooters. Microsoft has Halo. That is where they make profit. When Halo 3 comes out, Xbox 360 sales will sky rocket. I think that the Wii will lead this year's next-gen sales.
Another thing that has caught my eye, is the Microsoft Zune. The Microsoft Zune is Microsoft's alturnivie to Apple's iPod. I really recommend everyone to go to their site, www.comingzune.com. The commercial is kind of strange and really does not make sence. I am really interested in this product. I have an iPod of my own but still this Microsoft product interest me. This MP3 player is so interesting because it has WiFi connectivity built-in to the product. It also transfers music and files wirelessly. I think that this will really hit Apple hard. The rumar that has been around for a long time is that the next iPod will be touchscreen. That will not hurt Microsoft. I would not want to carry a touchscreen iPod around in my pocket. I would be afraid of scratching the screen. Apple will probolby fix that and have a wireless connection also. More updates later.
Google is hosting free WiFi to the local residents of Mountain View, CA. That is great! Google is clearly giving back to their community in a really different way. I have looked a different screens of how to connect to the WiFi. This is just amazing that they would do such a thing. I think that someone has done this once before in a different city. I forget what company had done this in a different city. Well, this is a wonderful and very useful tool to the town of Mountain View.
